Our Worked Example (see diagram)
Using 5 sashes, 2500mm opening, 41mm sash thickness.
| Step1: |
Nominal sash width |
| |
2500-12=2488 |
2488÷5=497.6
|
| Step2: |
Nominal pivoted sash width |
| |
497.6+12= |
509.6
|
| Step3: |
Width of single sash, floating sashes
& hinged sash |
| |
497.6-2= |
495.6 |
| |
Width of pivoted sash |
| |
509.6-2= |
507.6
|
| Check: |
495.6x4= |
1982.4 |
| |
507.6x1= |
507.6 |

|
| Step1: |
For each ”Hinged Pair“ in the opening, deduct from the opening width the ”Sash Pivot Allowance“ shown in the table above. Divide this net figure by the number of sashes. This is the nominal width of the sashes except for the ”Pivoted Sash“.
|
| Step2: |
Add to the nominal width the ”Sash Pivot allowance“ - this is the nominal width of the ”Pivoted Sash“.
|
| Step3: |
To find finished width deduct 2mm for clearances from each sash and allow for any rebates.
